THEME 5 – Reframing Societal Transformation by Challenging Underlying Assumptions
Many obstacles are in the way of true societal transformation, which is fundamental to ensure a climate-resilient future. These obstacles are often driven by underlying assumptions found in many spaces (civil society, public/private sector, politics, etc.).
Our aim is to tackle them by using a systemic approach and by analysing them through a deliberating lens. We will question the elementary basic function of society and rethink it, as well as open the space for discussion and exploring novel ideas & approaches.
We call on the social sciences, arts and humanities to imagine a different future, to act beyond the framework that conditions us, mobilizing their interpretive dimension as much as their creative and transformative potential in order to anticipate innovative behaviours that contribute to everyone’s well-being and to safeguarding the world that we have inherited for generations to come.
Keywords: Societal transformation, underlying assumptions, rethinking society, SSH (social sciences, arts & humanities)
